The best time to see Amsterdam is between mid-April to mid-October with the tourist peak season in July and August when the weather is dry and mild. The city is also gorgeous during the offseason with the benefit of cheaper hotels and restaurants and fewer crowds.

The museum houses more than a million paintings and sculptures and rotates a display of some 8000 pieces at a time, so it is possible to spend a day and not see all and then come back regularly for more engagement. For those who have little time or cannot visit the museum, Schiphol International Airport operates a satellite museum to the delight of international flyers with time between flights.
