You should not forget to take long and loose apparel while visiting Abu Dhabi. These clothes will give you comfort and save you from heat and it is also necessary to wear them if you are visiting the mosques.

You cannot take alcohol outside of hotels. Also avoid displaying affection as some locals find this offensive and may report you to the police.

Emirati dirham is the official currency of UAE. Although credit and debit cards are accepted in Abu Dhabi, many smaller shops and local markets accept only cash and you should ensure you carry some with you.

Western women are not expected to dress in hijab but respectful attire is a must – covering shoulders, arms and thighs. The UAE is very safe for women and they can walk around on their own without concern. But they should avoid making eye contact with men, who may mistake such gestures. Harassment of women by men is met with strict penalties.
