Princess Cruises is now revealing the details on its latest ship: The Sun Princess. The stunning new and bespoke ship platform is the brand’s largest ship ever that will accommodate over 4,000 guests. The new Sun Princess brings the views, the expansive venues, the innovative entertainment spots, the multi-story dining sancruary and next level stateroom options. All the while it remains true to the smooth clean lines and design aesthetics inspire by the original “Love Boat” TV series as it returns the venerable “Sun Princess” name back into operation as the third ship in the fleet to be christened with that name since 1974.
Largest Ship in the Fleet
The Sun Princess is now under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard and schedule to debut in early 2024, as the largest Princess ship ever construct (at 175,500 tons). Designs embrace Italian heritage by featuring a next-level, brand-iconic Piazza and The Dome – signature features over a cutting-edge entertainment space inspire by the terraces of Santorini. Sun Princess will also employ the Princess Medallion system for what has become known as Princess personalization – an in-demand service found on the industry’s smallest ships.
“A show-stopping, first-of-its-kind Dome on the top deck and suspend glass Piazza in the center of Sun Princess offer innovative designs showcasing expansive ocean views for incredible opportunities to connect with the sea,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises president, who notes the Sun Princess will sail an inaugural spring/summer season of Mediterranean cruises follows by Western and Eastern Caribbean voyages out of Port Everglades, Florida in the fall of 2024.
New Sun Princess: Guest Experience
Princess Cruises designers ensure the ship would infuse with light and dynamic views of the world within and sea scenes surrounding. The line’s Piazzaspans three stories, forming a stunning outward looking suspend space with comfortable seating and areas and ocean views in every direction. A large and wowing LED screen is also showcased in the center of the Piazza that can be move and configure to deliver live entertainment programming. Adjacent to the Piazza Atrium will be a new coffee shop, Coffee Currents, Bellini’s Cocktail Bar, along with Princess favorites like Crooners Bar and Alfredo’s Pizzeria.
The other stand-out structure onboard the new Sun Princess is The Dome. The multi-level cover deck becomes the first-of-its-kind true glass-enclose dome ever construct on a cruise ship. During the day, the Dome tops an indoor/outdoor pool, and unique water features, in a comfortable and relaxe space. At night, the pool becomes a stage, and the Dome completely transforms into an entertainment venue with a South Beach vibe, state-of-the-art lighting effects and the ability to deliver stunning aerial performances.
The ship’s overall interior design embraces the outside surrounds and celebrates the romance of the sea, offering outward views from morning until night. With brighter and lighter décor and finishes, Sun Princess delivers more memorable vantage points to take in the nearby destination vistas.
Sun Princess Suites and Staterooms
With 2,157 total staterooms, including 50 suites and 100 connecting rooms, the 21-deck Sun Princess features plenty of outdoor balcony space — and all balcony accommodations come with an in-room sofa. Also launching exclusively on Sun Princess will be a new level of suite accommodations: the Signature Collection. In addition to premium stateroom amenities, Signature Collection suites include access to the Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge, and Signature Sun Deck, a private area of the Sanctuary.
